Carpentry for Gardeners (29/10/22)

The Carpentry for Gardeners series focusses on the specifics of building for outdoor and rough conditions. You’ll learn about suitable hardware and techniques for outdoor construction, along with tips and tricks for prolonging the life of the things you build.
It covers the fundamentals of tool use and techniques, including:
• Confidence in your ability to use the following tools correctly and safely – hand and power saws, drill drivers and measuring equipment.
• Learning to measure and cut accurately
• Practice simple joinery using drills and screws
• Familiarise yourself with the workshop environment, practices and health and safety
In this introductory unit, you’ll make a 1.2 x 0.6 x 0.3m raised garden bed from recycled jarrah to take home with you.
What you bring: Yourself. All tools and materials are included in the registration. Morning tea Morning tea and lunch are provided.
What to wear: long pants and sturdy closed shoes. We provide safety glasses and ear protection.
